April 2023 I was diagnosed with Primary Progressive MS. It has felt like a downward spiral since then. I have always been active, running five half marathons, I completed a 1000km charity bike ride over a week, attended the gym weekly, and was walking at least five kilometres a day. I had a job I loved, with a promotion less than six months prior to resignation to management level. It got to a stage where we thought taking a few months off at the start of 2024 would potentially see a miraculous recovery. It never happened. We realised that returning to work in a part-time capacity would suit the MS better, eventually I resigned altogether in June 2024 (the decline has been that rapid, some cognitive but mostly physical). I feel unsteady most of the time when on the move, things are unbalanced, and every day tasks are now very challenging. Everything is negotiated or avoided. It’s become life consuming.
